1. Send him to public school. Pros: it is free Malcolm might make a friend Cons: it is public school too much homework always begging for money a vicious cycle with them requiring nap time and my kids who don't normally nap won't fall asleep and we are too tired in the morning for them to go to school. Malcolm would probably be kicked out fairly quickly.
2. Private school. Pros small classes 1/2 day kindergarten Malcolm might make a friend Cons cost and school uniforms
3 . Homeschooling Pros flexible Cons Malcolm won't be around other kids. I worry he might fall behind even though I know my other kids were behind and caught up in 3rd grade. (I don't do a set curriculum)
4. Homeschooling part time preschool classes part time. Pros flexible and Malcolm gets art, music, PE and socializes. I get a few hours a week to do things I need to get done without Malcolm around. Cons he might be behind other kids his age he will tower over the other preschoolers and they will be younger than he is. Malcolm says he doesn't want to go to preschool again.

I'm not a big fan of homeschooling tho I do think its the way of the future. Schools are targets & I can see the day when its just safer to log on to virtual school from home. I'm not a fan of public school either, they're broke & they need fixing. Which I don't see happening anytime soon. I'd have to throw my vote to private school.
ReplyDeleteI would say private school if you can afford it and homeschool if you can't. From everything you've told me about the public schools in your area, I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole. I particularly dislike the way they still call it pre-school at that age. Anthony will be 4 in May. He will start school full-time in September, in French. Brennan has been there two years and chats happily in French, he can read short books, and is now learning to read in English too. They do cooking and science, and a LOT of art. He loves it wants to go on weekends.
